Good paving starts underneath. A well-prepared, properly compacted base and the right drainage are what stop a driveway sinking or a patio rocking, so we never cut corners on the parts you can’t see.

A block paved path leading to a green front door
Do you charge for quotes?

No. We’ll come and look at the job, measure up and give you a clear quote. There’s no obligation to go ahead.

How long does a new driveway take?

It depends on the size, the ground and the weather, but most driveways take somewhere between a few days and a couple of weeks. We’ll give you a clear timescale with your quote.

Block paving, tarmac or resin: which is best?

It depends on your budget, the look you want and how the area drains. Block paving comes in lots of patterns and colours and is easy to repair. Tarmac is hard-wearing and often the most cost-effective. Resin-bound gives a smooth, modern finish and lets water drain through. We’ll talk you through the options when we visit.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

In England, you usually don’t if the new surface is permeable (such as resin-bound or permeable block paving) or drains onto a lawn or border on your property. Covering more than five square metres of a front garden with a surface that drains onto the road normally needs permission. If you also need a dropped kerb, that’s arranged through your local council. We’ll talk it through when we visit.

How do I look after block paving?

An occasional sweep and wash keeps it looking good. Topping up the jointing sand every so often keeps the blocks tight and helps stop weeds coming through. Sealing is optional, and we can talk you through it.

Do you take the waste away?

Yes. The old surface, soil and any rubble from digging out are taken away, and we leave everything swept and tidy.

Which areas do you cover?

We’re based in Manchester and cover the surrounding area. If you’re not sure whether you’re in range, just ask.
